Augusta Bilbro

Augusta Bilbro is the Director of Cardiovascular Health Programs in the Office of Preventive Health at the Mississippi State Department of Health. During her tenure, she has collaborated with partners to increase the number of American Society of Hypertension (ASH) Hypertension Specialists and designated hypertension practice centers in Mississippi; established the Mississippi Hypertension Coalition; served as an integral partner in implementing the first Hypertension and Diabetes Quality Improvement Initiative and Mississippi Quality Improvement Initiative II (MSQII-2) at the Department of Health.

Previously, Mrs. Bilbro trained parents of children with special health care needs as Community Health Workers and integrated them into healthcare systems while serving as the Director of the Mississippi State Department of Health’s Children and Youth with Special Health Care Needs (CYSHCN) Program. She also served as the Heart Disease and Stroke Prevention Program Director, Mississippi Delta Health Collaborative’s Clinical Coordinator, and Professional Enrichment Training Director.  Mrs. Bilbro been employed by the Mississippi State Department of Health (MSDH) since February 2005.
